SIBS returns to the Web Summit as Exclusive Cashless Event Partner, ensuring digital payments during the event, which will take place from November 10th to 13th. This year, its participation will be further strengthened not only by operating the entire cashless infrastructure – with more than 250 terminals spread across 80 points of sale and 55 merchants – but also by leading a European debate on sovereignty and innovation in payments, reinforcing SIBS’s position as a sector leader.
As a founding member of the European Payments Alliance (EuroPA), SIBS will host a MasterClass on November 12th at 1:00 PM, titled “Connecting Europe: The Power of the EuroPA Alliance,” in Room 1 of the PT Business Center. This session will address the latest developments of the Alliance, highlighting a major milestone in the integration of BLIK and Vipps MobilePay, with the first cross-border transactions between the solutions. The panel will include Rune Garborg (Vipps MobilePay), Marcin Waldowski (BLIK), Massimo Itta (Bancomat), Fernando Rodriguez Ferrer (Bizum), Stavroula Kampouridou (DIAS), and Teresa Mesquita (SIBS/MB WAY).
SIBS has been present at the Web Summit since its first edition in Portugal. In the 2024 edition, SIBS Analytics revealed that over 78,000 transactions were made at the venue, with an average ticket of €12.30. Foreign cards accounted for 79% of the total, from more than 110 nationalities, with the most popular sectors being restaurants (40%), supermarkets (18%), and passenger transport (5%). The average ticket for international transactions was €36, with the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Ukraine, and France leading the nationality ranking.
