SIBS celebrates the 40th anniversary of the MULTIBANCO Network by giving it a new voice. The Portuguese can now hear phrases already well-known to all, such as “Withdraw your money,” through a new voice, generated by Artificial Intelligence.

The MULTIBANCO ATM Network was launched on September 2, 1985, with 9 machines in Lisbon and Porto, allowing withdrawals, balance and transaction inquiries, and PIN changes. Today, there are around 13,000 machines spread across the country, enabling more than 90 different operations.

In 2024, more than 693 million transactions were carried out on the MULTIBANCO ATM Network, with the majority (+55%) being digital/non-face-to-face operations other than withdrawals. This confirms that this channel is used by the Portuguese for a variety of daily financial operations, such as bill payments, state payments, transfers, mobile top-ups, among others.
